Hello,

Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Toshiko, which is pronounced (To She KO), although my friends affectionately call me Shiko. While I was born in Detroit, my formative years were spent in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria. Writing became my refuge, a way to combat boredom and steer clear of trouble. My journey began with an affinity for poetry, and I soon began sharing my work just for the sheer joy of it. I even had some of my pieces featured on a few Nigerian websites in the past.

As my passion evolved, I delved into the realm of creative writing, particularly crafting children's books to nurture the inner child within me. However, these stories remained dormant for several years. That is until one fateful day while I was in the heart of Europe, sitting on a bed, a Facebook Ad caught my attention: "5-day Children's Book Challenge." The image featured a dynamic woman sporting red lipstick, and to my delight, she was also a sister! The prospect intrigued me, prompting me to take the leap and join the challenge. Little did I know, it would be the best decision I've ever made.

Through this transformative program, I've authored three captivating children's books and three journals, alongside two other books under my pen name. But the journey didn't stop there. Emboldened by newfound confidence, I took a leap of faith, retiring early from the travel industry, and founded my own publishing company. Here, I've had the privilege of assisting four individuals in bringing their own books to life.

Yet, here's the interesting part—despite my accomplishments, when it comes to marketing and speaking about myself, I've often found myself in silence. My clients, all from my publishing company, have been gracious referrals. Today, I'm writing this to hold myself accountable, to break free from the quiet creator's cocoon. I'm a living testament to the fact that you never truly know who the Good Lord will place in your path to propel you toward your dreams.

So, as I take this moment to say hello, I want to encourage you: never give up on your dreams. You never know who might come into your life to provide that extra push along the way.
